Whatcom Web: Our Roots
Whatcom Web was founded by Gary Pickering [facebook | twitter], is the result of many years of internet and business experience.
In 1999, while working for U.S. Bank, I founded Mindfly. Within the year, I was joined by my good friend Rusty Swayne as my partner and the technical brains behind the whole operation. Mindfly grew quickly, adding services such as web hosting and internet marketing along the way. In June 2006, I sold my interest in Mindfly to Rusty so I could pursue Whatcom Web.
Whatcom Web LLC was formed later in 2006. Whatcom Web rebranded the Mindfly web hosting customers, and Whatcom Host was born. In addition to web hosting, we focused on providing Internet Marketing and SEO services to our clients.
At the end of 2007, I sold Whatcom Host, leaving Whatcom Web to focus only on Internet Marketing and Search Engine Optimization and shortley thereafter added Social Media Consulting to the mix.
